We believe that acquiring a new language should be a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We want our students to feel relaxed and at ease while they learn and we strive to create an environment that encourages conversation and interaction.

The name, Cōzette, represents our cozy and welcoming atmosphere and laid-back instructional approach. We balance the teaching of foundational skills with opportunities to ‘chat’ in the way French is actually spoken today. We like to have fun, don’t take ourselves too seriously, and invite you to do the same!

OUR TEAM

The minute you walk through our doors or join an online class, you will be welcomed by an amazing team of bilingual French teachers. Our instructors have experience living and/or working abroad and understand the joys and challenges of learning a foreign language.

This understanding is reflected in their encouraging, friendly, and non-judgmental approach to teaching where you will feel supported every step of the way. The use of the Coucou© method, combined with our own approach, focuses on building fundamental grammar skills while also learning conversational street-savvy French. Cōzette trained teachers share a similar goal - to guide you to take risks, build your confidence, and simply have fun while acquiring a language.

OUR FOUNDER’S STORY:
A TRANSATLANTIC VOYAGE

Maïwenn was born and raised in the port city of Brest, France in Brittany, a region known for its rugged coastlines and famous crêpes. Her passion for language and travel brought her to Minnesota where she is the proud proprietor of Cōzette, a woman-owned small business in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis.

After teaching in a variety of settings and operating Coucou Minneapolis, Maïwenn launched Cōzette, a place where she could cultivate the type of cozy community she envisioned for learners of French. Her mission is to create a school where students can have fun acquiring new skills and mastering old ones under the guidance of kind and relatable instructors who teach a modern kind of French.
